Chapter 1 /

Chapter III

Ahead of our launch for Chapter III we wanted to bring it back to the beginning - to share our purpose and intention behind what keeps us inspired and driven as a brand and as a community.

OCIN is an ocean collective and eco-swim label for people and for the planet we share.

We’re inspired by nature and this incredible ecosystem that surrounds us – to become a collective that bridges communities, amplifies dialogue and learning through collaboration, and empowers a deep connection to caring and protecting all people and this Planet we call home.

We believe that we are better together — that through our collective openness, shared perspectives, and kind actions, we can do so much good for all.

Why the oceans?

The Oceans make up 70% of the Earth’s surface and 97% of the Earth’s water supply. They generate more than half of the oxygen that sustains life on the planet. While regulating our climate, the oceans support our economy, are home to millions of species, and offer us a source of nourishment, healing, and way of living. Our connection to water is also a huge part of our existence; we are made of water – it’s vital to our survival and the life of every cell.

To us, the oceans are a symbol of limitlessness, openness, potential, and expansion. They give us space to play, reset, and deeply connect. They are also the only thing that we believe truly connects us physically, regardless of location and distance. It’s in our hands to respect, care for, and protect this life source that gives us so much.

Chapter III – Expansion

Each Chapter, we choose one word to act as our focus for how we show up. Our theme for Chapter I was “limitlessness”; a reflection of openness and vulnerability. Chapter II was all about “curiosity”; the practice of awareness and ongoing learning that inspires humility and the commitment to constantly improve, grow, and evolve. To us, both words represent different ways of reframing the way we see things, act as tools to strengthen our connection to the world around us, direct where we lend our support, and impact how we give back to one another to create greater change.

For Chapter III, we journey into the theme of “expansion”; a lens into evolution and pushing ourselves further past what we know or think we know – past where we’ve been, and past where we are. The theme is a challenge for us to view the world through possibility and potential, ultimately driving us to embrace vulnerability and grow into new spaces by being open to infinite opportunities.

For us, to 'expand' means to lead our lives with a sense of awareness. To be aware of the vast knowledge and wisdom that exists within this world and all that we have yet to learn and understand. Coupled by the motivation to keep discovering, sharing, and growing, we believe that the word 'expansion' and all it encompasses can drive kind and positive actions to respect and care for one another , our Earth, and our Oceans.

"For the Oceans"

“For the oceans” is our latest campaign highlighting friends that are helping us celebrate the launch of Chapter III, by celebrating the oceans. Each one is wearing a piece from the first drop of our newest collection, introducing two new top and bottom styles, in two new colourways – Sea, a beautiful blue-gray, and Earth, a stunning rich brown. A vintage-inspired one-piece rounds out the launch of our eco-swim designed for in and out of the water.

Stay tuned throughout the month as we share their stories here and on our Instagram @ocin.

As with every Chapter, we donate a percentage of sales to support the work and initiatives of our non-profit ocean conservation partners. For Chapter III we are honoured to give back to: Ocean Uprise – Parley's creative ocean action platform, by youth, for youth, dedicated to sharing awareness about our oceans and ocean health & Surfrider Canada / Surfrider Vancouver

Thank you for being a part of our collective and our story. We hope you love Chapter III.

“Even if you never have the chance to see or touch the ocean, the ocean touches you with every breath you take, every drop of water you drink, every bite you consume. Everyone, everywhere is inextricably connected to and utterly dependent upon the existence of the sea."
